Traditional

Porfirio’s father taught him traditional design principals at the age of 12, forming the foundation for his artistic life. These designs are part of his cultural legacy and he is committed to weaving them in the same way that they have been created for generations. His practice pays homage to the Zapotec people and is a symbol of their creativity, longevity and history.

Keeping the memories of past generations alive, Porfirio maintains his promise to the great weavers who came before him, serving as a culture bearer and sustaining those traditions for the generations to come.
